About 6 years ago, the Hope Community Garden bloomed into being. It supplied fresh vegetables to recipients of our Helping Hands Program. Due to pandemic-related issues, we no longer issue food vouchers.
NOW a serendipitous moment has occurred! In conjunction with the Boy Scout Troop 137 here at the church, we now have the Hope Community Fridge. There are only two others in existence in Chattanooga.
The concept is to alleviate food insecurities during these challenging times. Garden vegetables and other donated perishable and non-perishable food items from several sources are housed in a cabinet and refrigerator under the drive through canopy near the gym.
Help us get the word out that this is available to those in need. You can access The Hope Community Fridge’s facebook page or email them at hopecommunityfridge @gmail .com.
PLOTS AVAILABLE!
The garden is ready for planting! There are several “individual” garden plots available to the community. These plots are offered at a nominal fee to cover the costs of maintaining the garden (see plot sizes and annual fee below). In addition, we do ask that those who use an individual plot also contribute a minimum of 30 min/week to the community garden plot. Food harvested from the community garden plot will be given to people who come to Wesley Memorial UMC.
- 12’x4′ Individual Plot–$25 Annual Fee (10 available)
- 9’x4′ Individual Plot–$20 Annual Fee (2 available)
- 30″ Round Individual Planter–$5 Annual Fee/each (12+ available)
NOTE: If you are interested in multiple round planters, please indicate 30″ round planter in the sign-up form below, and upon receiving email confirmation, you can respond with the number of round planters you would like.
